Principal’s Message

Dear St. Kateri School Community

Welcome back to another exciting school year! As I enter into my ninth year as the school principal, it is both a great honour and privilege to be able to serve the students, parents and staff of the St. Kateri School community. Without a doubt, the school community has a vibrancy and energy that is second to none. It truly lives out the Board’s vision statement; “Heart of the community — success for each, a place for all.”

St. Kateri School has a stellar reputation when it comes to curriculum delivery within the classroom and student achievement. Teachers participate in a multitude of professional growth opportunities throughout the year in order to improve program delivery and enrich the classroom experience for the students. Integration of technology within the classroom continues to be a focus – all in an effort to optimize student learning and prepare students as twenty-first century citizens. In addition to their classroom experience, St. Kateri School offers a multitude of co-curricular activities ranging from athletic teams, to clubs, to social justice initiatives.

Being part of a strong Catholic Educational history, St. Kateri School also enjoys a valuable and rich relationship with St. Aloysius Parish. Throughout the year the priests of St. Aloysius Parish visit the classroom in order to discuss the many elements of their faith. We also have monthly liturgical celebrations, full sacramental preparation, and celebrate the various seasons within the liturgical calendar. Through full partnership with parish, school and home, student’s educational and spiritual journey is fully entwined within their experience while at the school

St. Kateri School also has a very active School Council who are involved in a number of initiatives throughout the year to help enhance student learning. All parents are welcome to join the School Council.  In addition, many parents are active within the school through volunteering on various committees, fundraising for the school, and working within the classroom to help facilitate student learning. We strongly encourage parents to become active participants in their child’s education.

As always, we look forward to the many great happenings and events of the school year and welcome you to contact us at any time should you have any questions or concerns.
