October in Review:

Umbrella Project Focus of the Month – Empathy

Thank you to Mrs. Vreeswyk, our Umbrella Project Team, and all our families for organizing and donating to our Winter Coat Drive!  The Salvation Army was very appreciative of our school’s donation and assured us the coats would go to good use this fall and winter.

Social Media Presentation for Intermediate Students – Thank you to our School Resource Officer, Constable Molnar, who led an informative workshop on Responsible Use of Social Media for our Gr. 7 and 8 students.

Our New Foosball Tables Arrived! – Thank you to our CSAC and our fundraising efforts last year which helped us purchase two new, high quality foosball tables!  The tables, along with our ping pong tables, will be open for use during indoor recesses.

Bulldogs Sports Update:

Our Co-ed Flag Football Team went undefeated in the WCDSB Tournament on Oct. 18th @ RIM Park in Waterloo!  Great skill and sportsmanship were on full display by our players.  And, thank you for giving your time to coach the team, Mr. Martins and Mr. Jakub!

Head Coach, Ms. Filipovic, and our WCDSB Defending Champion Girls’ B-Ball Team, is off to a great start with a current record of 3 wins without a loss.

Head Coach Ms. Brown has guided the Boys’ V-Ball team to a record of 2 wins and 1 loss, early in the season.  Let’s go Bulldogs!

Our Annual Interview-a-Palooza took place on Oct. 29th.  This is the process we use to  schedule Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences, taking place Nov. 7th this year.  Parents – a slip with your interview time(s) will be included with your oldest child’s Progress Report Card that goes home Nov. 5th.

This year’s Halloween Dance-a-thon was a great success!  Our students had tons of fun during their time in the dance and we are close to our goal of $10 000.00!  We will share the exact total once all donations have been tallied.

Thank you to our Catholic School Advisory Council, parent volunteers, and students for your fundraising efforts!  The money raised this year will go towards bringing in a guest speaker, booking a play for the primary division, funding the installation of a new jumbo screen in our gym, purchasing resources that will support our Umbrella Project, bring a Ninja Warrior Course to our gym, provide bussing to our school’s track and field meet, and offset costs for Shrove/Pancake Tuesday!

Christmas Concert – Date and Format – Thursday, December 19th (a.m.)

We will be holding a Christmas Concert here at school once again this year!  More specific details will be shared as we get closer to the date; however, for those of you wishing to update your calendars, our matinee performance will take place the morning of Thursday, December 19th.  This year we are going to ‘reverse the order’ of performances and begin with our Gr. 8s and end with our Kindergarten classes.
