Remote Readiness – Chromebook Requests for Students and Virtual Learning Schedules Important Information for Parents of St. Kateri CES Students
Dear St. Kateri Parents,
We truly hope you all had a most Joyous Christmas and would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
On December 21st the provincial government announced all elementary students in Ontario would start the new year learning virtually/remotely – January 4-8, with a return to face-to-face learning on January 11th.
Expectations for teaching and learning compared to the spring are different, when face-to-face (synchronous learning) was limited and we did not necessarily follow our school bell times. Your child’s classroom teacher will be providing you and your child with a daily or weekly timetable that will obviously be more detailed, but look similar from a bell time standpoint to the samples provide here:

Chromebook Loan to Students Plan
If your child has access to their own learning device at home, we ask that you do not request to borrow a Chromebook from the school. If your child(ren) does/do require a Chromebook during our remote learning phase, parents are asked to follow these instructions:
- Email principal Dave Lynch david.lynch@wcdsb.ca by Saturday, January 2nd at 12:00 p.m.
- Please include your child’s name (first and last), grade and classroom teacher’s name in the email
- Chromebooks will be ready to pick up at the school by parents on Monday, January 4th between 1:00-4:30 p.m.
- Parents picking up Chromebooks are asked to pull up to the main doors of the school and remain in their vehicle (drive thru style)
- A staff member will record the Chromebook number being loaned and bring it to the vehicle
- If parents are not able to come to the school Monday between 1:00-4:30 p.m., please indicate a time that does suite your schedule in your email to Mr. Lynch
Important Reminder…
