Virtual Learning Extended

The Ministry of Education announced last week schools in Waterloo Region will continue learning remotely for at least the next two weeks.  It is our understanding the Ministry is looking at February 11th as a possible return to school date; however, nothing has been confirmed.  Once we receive more information, we will be sure to share it with our school community.

School Closure Extended for Waterloo Catholic DSB

School Closure Extended for Waterloo Catholic DSB

Late Yesterday, Stephen Lecce, the Minister of Education, announced that school closures and distance learning will continue for students in the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) and select other school boards across the province to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

What we know

Students in the WCDSB will continue distance learning until further direction from the Ministry of Education.

That is all the information we have at this time. We will continue to provide updates as information from the Ministry of Education becomes available.

Thank you to all our families, students and staff for your continued patience and flexibility. This is not an easy situation to navigate and we are so appreciative of the understanding you have shown throughout this time.

St. Kateri Bell Time Change for 2021-2022 School Year

Dear St. Kateri Families,

Further to the survey you completed on changes to bell times for the next school year (2021-22), I am writing to confirm that your school times will be 10 minutes later than they currently are:

Starting Bell Time – 8:35am

Ending Bell Time – 3:05pm

The survey results showed a majority of families were OK with the change or could make the change work. That said, we did receive concerns related to child care arrangements, family work schedules, and after school activities as reasons why this may be hard for some families to manage.

We are hoping that with the approximately 8 months of notice, families can make the appropriate arrangements in time for September’s school start up.

Thank you for your participation and have a good rest of school year.

Respectfully,

Shesh Maharaj

Executive Superintendent of Corporate Services

Chief Financial Officer
