St. Kateri CES – A Message from Your Admin Team

Dear Parents and Students

As you are well aware, this is an unprecedented time for us as a staff, and as a school as a board.   We pray everyone in our school community is healthy as we continue coming to terms with our current reality.  There is a great deal to consider as we begin to move to teacher-led distance learning for the foreseeable future.  Our conversations with the board’s senior admin team as well as our St. Kateri team has been about ‘the art of possible’.  Wednesday morning, our school staff took part in a video conference call meeting and discussed how learning will take place moving forward for the students at St. Kateri.  This plan is aligned with direction provided by both the Ministry of Education and WCDSB.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please speak to your child(ren)’s teachers or you can contact one of us.

1. By the end of this week, your child(ren)’s classroom teacher will have connected with you – by phone call, email or your child’s google classroom account. Please let your child’s teacher know if internet access or a learning device is required for your children to access At Home Learning.

2. For the next week and a half, you and your child are encouraged to use WCDSB Steam Days or refer to the Ministry’s  Learn at Home  platform on a daily basis to increase their knowledge/understanding of subjects and apply their thinking to grade appropriate learning tasks.

3. Beginning April 6th, Classroom Teachers will provide their students with curriculum based learning activities each school day using the platform they communicated with you this week.   French and Planning Time Teachers will forward assignments to Classroom Teachers, so parents/students have one point of contact.

Please continue to monitor our school’s website, Newswire and Twitter for updates.
