Important News and Dates for Parents and Students…

Bullying Awareness & Prevention Week in Ontario – November 15-19

Each morning this week, we will be highlighting the different ways we can combat bullying here at St. Kateri.  Teachers will also be reviewing key messages, using age-specific resources aligned with our faith values, to help students develop the skills required to build and maintain healthy relationships.  And…really cool shirt giveaways will happen all week long too!

All-Star Reading Program – Volunteers Needed!

The St. Kateri Tekakwitha school community is looking for volunteers to help run our All Star Reading program.

What is All Star Reading?

All Star Reading is a program where selected students have the opportunity to help build upon their phonemic awareness, sight word vocabulary, and practice their reading skills. With the impact that school closures have had, the need for opportunities for extra practice is ever so important. It is also a great way to get involved with our school community!

Where does it take place?

All Star Reading will take place in our community room in the afternoon.

How much time does it require?

The time required is flexible and depends on your availability! Typically volunteers come in 1-2 times per week for about 1-2 hours.

How do I get involved?

If you are interested in volunteering in the afternoons, you can email Mrs. Costa at with your availability and phone number. Please let us know at your earliest convenience or before the end of November.

Thank you and we look forward to working with you soon!

Progress Report Card Distribution

The purpose of the Progress Report is:

“To show a student’s development of the learning skills and work habits during the fall, as well as a student’s general progress in working towards the achievement of the curriculum expectations in all subjects.” (Growing Success, 2010 Ministry Document. p. 50.).

The Elementary Progress Report Card is intended to be the central part of the discussion between parents and teachers during the phone call conferences taking place the week of November 22-26.   The 10-minute conferences will allow parents to gain a better understanding of effective learning skills and work habits as well as provide an opportunity to discuss learning goals for the year.
