Important News and Dates for Parents and Students…

Progress Report Cards and Parent Teacher Interviews/Conferences

Parents – Your child brought home their Term 1 Progress Report Cards last Thursday.  The response section (bottom of the second page) provides an opportunity for you to comment positively and constructively on your child’s progress and achievement during the first two months of the school year.  This section also allows you to comment on how you will work together with the school to improve learning for your child as we head into the second half of the first term.

When completing the response form, you and your child may wish to consider the following questions:

Students:

  • What is something I do well?
  • What is something I want to learn more about this term?
  • What are the learning goals am I going to set for improvement this term?
  • What am I going to do to improve my work and/or effort this year?

Parents:

  • What do you see as a real strength for your child?  What do you see your child doing well?
  • Where have you seen your child struggling or having difficulty?
  • What does your child need to improve?
  • What steps can you take during this term to work with the classroom teacher to assist your child?

We thank you for the support you have provided during the beginning of this school year to ensure successful learning for your child.  Virtual or Phone Call interviews take place this week – a date/time should have been included on a slip of paper in your child’s Report Card envelop.

School Improvement & Equity Plan for Student Achievement

Our 2021-2022 St. Kateri SIEPSA was shared with our Catholic School Advisory Council last month and a link has been uploaded onto our school’s website.  This is part of our commitment to being accountable and transparent with our school community and is the most important project of our ‘St. Kateri 2.0’ plan.  Here is a link to our website:   https://stkateri.wcdsb.ca/ and here is the link that will take you directly to our 2021-2022 SIEPSA   2021-2022 St. Kateri CES SIEPSA .  Should you have any questions about our plan, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, Mr. Rose, or Mr. Lynch.

All-Star Reading Program – Volunteers Needed!

The St. Kateri Tekakwitha school community is looking for volunteers to help run our All Star Reading program.

What is All Star Reading?

All Star Reading is a program where selected students have the opportunity to help build upon their phonemic awareness, sight word vocabulary, and practice their reading skills. With the impact that school closures have had, the need for opportunities for extra practice is ever so important. It is also a great way to get involved with our school community!

Where does it take place?

All Star Reading will take place in our community room in the afternoon.

How much time does it require?

The time required is flexible and depends on your availability! Typically volunteers come in 1-2 times per week for about 1-2 hours.

How do I get involved?

If you are interested in volunteering in the afternoons, you can email Mrs. Costa at edith.costa@wcdsb.ca with your availability and phone number. Please let us know at your earliest convenience or before the end of November.

Thank you and we look forward to working with you soon!

  • Mrs. Costa, Mrs. Da Silva and Mrs. Dillon
