Bulldog Bulletin – January 23, 2023
Staffing NewsPlease join us in welcoming retired #WCDSBAwesome principal, Mr. Leo Pellizzari, who will be our acting Vice Principal this week while Mr. Ingoldsby is away. Congratulations to Mrs. Sowa, who has been appointed the Lead Administrative Assistant of the new, yet-to-be named, ‘Huron-Brigadoon’ Catholic Elementary School opening in September! Mrs. Sowa will remain with us until the end of March and then begin her full-time duties with the new school. Finally, it is with mixed emotions that I announce I too will be leaving St. Kateri at the end of March – I will be heading to ‘Huron-Bridagoon’ CES as its first-ever principal. It has been an honor to work alongside our students, staff, and parents the past five and a half years. Serving this school community has been the highlight of my career in Catholic education thus far – St. Kateri is a very special school, and I will miss everyone dearly. Families heading to ‘Huron-Brigadoon’ in September – keep an eye out for important information on things like parent meetings, student meetings, and online surveys in the coming weeks and months. Sincerely,
Mr. Dave Lynch Jersey Day – Friday, January 27thStudents and staff are invited to wear their favorite sports jerseys on the 27th! Black History and Black Heritage Month
St. Kateri has a very active Student Equity Engagement Council whose mandate is to help ensure every student and member of our school community feels welcome, valued, and included. Our SEEC will be taking the lead with several educational experiences this month, when we learn more about the contributions Black Canadians have made, and continue to make, in shaping our country.
To support our learning, we will also be welcoming Duane ‘D.O.’ Gibson to St. Kateri the afternoon of February 10th, as part of our Guest Speaker Series. D.O. will be bringing his ‘Black Canadian 365 – Change The World’ school assembly to the Dawg Pound at 1:00 p.m. that day – parents are invited to attend!
