End of June Newsletter – 2018
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the final week of the 2017-2018 school year, there are a number of information items I would like to share with the school community.
First of all, our Mission Day that took place on June 15th was a resounding success. Kids, parents and staff had a tonne of fun participating in a wide variety of activities. I’m proud to say that our school raised over $3000.00, which, coupled with some funds from last year, enabled us to support Food 4 Kids https://www.food4kidsww.ca/ ($3100.00) and Ronald McDonald House Canada https://www.rmhccanada.ca/ ($3000.00) . Thank you so much for your support!
Last Day of School
The final day of school this year is Friday, June 29, Dismissal will be at our regular time – 2:55 p.m.
Each year, due to retirements, new opportunities, returning staff or desire for change, schools experience movement of staff members. I would like to take this opportunity to let our staff who are leaving our school community know that we are thankful for their many special contributions, and we wish them nothing but the best as they enter a new chapter in their school and vocational lives. Some staffing positions will be filled this summer, so the school community will be updated in September of the rest of our new additions.
Staff Members who are moving to new assignments for the 2018-2019 school year include:
- Mrs. Pizarro (Gr. 2 Teacher) – Appointed Vice Principal at St. Teresa of Calcutta CES, Cambridge
- Mr. Jagas (Gr. 7 Teacher) – new teaching assignment at Resurrection CSS, Kitchener
- Miss Tojeira (Gr. 4 LTO) – full time teaching position at Holy Rosary CES, Waterloo
- Mrs. Waechter (0.5 Admin Assistant) – Lead Admin Assistant at St. Boniface CES, Maryhill
New Staff Members for the 2018-2019 School Year:
- Miss Filipovic – Full Time Intermediate Teacher
- Mrs. Vermeersch – Junior Teacher returning from parental leave
- Mrs. Bamber – 0.5 Admin Assistant
We thank all of our staff members for sharing their many gifts and talents with us this past school year.
**NEW**Sneak Peak and First Day of School Procedures
A reminder to parents to come into the school on Tuesday, August 28th (between 8:30-3:30) or Wednesday, August 29th (between 8:30-5:30) to find out your child’s teacher, classroom, entrance/exit doors and pick up your first week of school information package. If you aren’t able to come in on one of those days, the information package will be sent home with your child and you can call and speak to Mrs. Sowa or Mrs. Bamber to find out class placement August 28-31.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 4th. Teachers will help guide students to enter the correct doors to the school and we will follow our regular procedures (National Anthem, Morning Prayer, Announcements). Please note that we will not gather as a large group as in years past.
Wishing you all a safe, fun-filled summer!
Yours in Christ,
