May 6-10 – Catholic Education Week 2019 – Living as Joyful Disciples

This year Catholic Education Week takes place May 6 – 10.  Catholic communities across Ontario will celebrate the unique and distinctive contribution that Catholic schools make to our students, our community and our province.

 

This year’s theme is, “Catholic Education – Living as Joyful Disciples”.

Rejoice in the Lord always … and the God of peace will be with you. (Phil 4: 4, 9)

Hope in our Hearts…in our Homes…in our Schools…in our Communities…in our World

Wednesday, May 8 – Festival of Trees @ The Kitchener Auditorium – Gr. 4-8 Students 

Thursday, May 9 School Track and Field Meet (Gr. 4-8) @ Resurrection CSS 

Thursday, May 9, 7 p.m. @ The Aud – Folk Dance Festival for all Kitchener Catholic Schools 

Friday, May 10 – St. Kateri Spirit Day – Dress as your favorite Athlete or Celebrity 

Tuesday, May 14 (p.m.) – Intermediate Co-ed Soccer Tournament @ RIM Park 

Friday, May 17 – Jump Rope for Heart! 

Monday, May 20 – Victoria Day (no school) 

EQAO Testing – Gr. 3s – May 21, 22, 23 … Gr. 6s – May 27, 28, 29 

From May 21-23, students in Grade 3 at St. Kateri will be writing the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) Assessment of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Primary Division.

Our Grade 6 students will be writing the Junior Assessment May 27-29.

These province-wide tests are developed by Ontario teachers and assessment experts and resemble the work children do in class every day.

We ask that you ensure your child is well rested and, if at all possible, please avoid appointments during this time.

May 28-30 – Grade 8s @ Mt. Mary, Ancaster for Spiritual Retreat 

Thursday, May 30 – JK Parent Orientation Night and Welcome to Kindergarten Night – 6:00 p.m.

Parents of children attending JK or SK for the first time are invited to a Parent Meeting and Orientation on Thursday, May 30th from 6:00 – 7:0 p.m. in the school’s Learning Commons.  This evening is intended for both parents and incoming students.  If possible, we ask that both parents, or two adults, attend.  One parent will stay in our LC for an information session and the other will rotate through activities in classrooms with your child.
