Bulldog Bulletin for the Week of June 8, 2020

Warm Greetings to our entire St. Kateri Bulldog community!  We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and we move into the final three weeks of the 2019-2020 school year!  In this bulletin, you will find some important items regarding Grade 8 Graduation and Term 2 Report Card & Personal Belongings Pick-up from school – so please read carefully.

Grade 8 Graduation

We are currently finalizing plans for this year’s Grade 8 Graduation Ceremony.  More information will be shared by our Gr. 8 teachers with their respective classes in the coming days, but here are some general details to make note of:

Date: Tuesday, June 23rd

Time: 6:30-7:15 p.m. – Google Meet Live Stream Event (link will be shared with students/families closer to the date)

7:30-9:00 p.m. – Drive Thru Diploma Pick-up at the school (7:30- Mr. Wagner’s Class      8:00-Ms. Filipovic’s Class      8:30- Mrs. Brown’s Class)

Report Card and Personal Belongings Pick Up Schedule

Week of June 22-26

Physical Distancing and Safety Protocols:

  • Access to the school is prohibited to anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or has had close contact with a confirmed case.  All individuals must complete the self assessment tool prior to arrival: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/

Students in JK-Gr. 4 – Classrooms in the School Building

  • Students/parents are asked to bring a backpack or bag for their personal items
  • Students & parents (JK-Gr. 4) will line up and enter the school using only the main entrance
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided for parents/students
  • Exit of the building for JK-Gr. 4 students will also occur using the front doors of the school
  • Students in JK to Gr. 4 may enter the school with one parent – there will be a limit of seven families in the school at any given time and a limit of one student/parent in the classroom at a time

Students in Gr. 5 to 8 – Classrooms in Portables

  • Students enter their portable with or without a parent – one family in the portable at a time

All Students and Parents

  • Everyone is asked to exercise physical distancing and stay at least two metres apart from each other at all times – floor tape, arrows and pylons will be used as a reminder
  • Students and parents are encouraged to wear a mask when visiting the school/classroom
  • Term 2 Report Cards will be on students’ desks for pick up
  • Students have a short time to pick up personal items from their desk/coat hook – an opportunity to say good-bye but not  time for a visit
  • Grade 8 graduating students, and students not returning to St. Kateri in September, are asked to return Chromebooks if borrowed from the school during Distance Learning.  Please remember to also bring the charge cord and have both in a labeled paper bag (student name and Chromebook number written on the bag)
  • All students are asked to return Library books and classroom books they have at home
  • Returning students who borrowed a Chromebook/device from the school, please keep it for use over the summer
  • There will be no outdoor supervision and the playground/yard is closed
  • Any medication stored in the main office will be available for pick up at the main office
  • Unclaimed items will be donated to charity after the final pick up day
  • If there are parents whose health leaves them vulnerable to COVID-19, arrangements can be made for a different pick up date.  Please make arrangements directly with the Principal (david.lynch@wcdsb.ca)
  • If there are parents who are frontline workers and cannot make the pick up date for their child’s class, please contact the Principal directly (david.lynch@wcdsb.ca) to make alternate arrangements
  • This plan follows the WCDSB Protocol for Access to Student Personal Items and has been signed off by Public Health
